The first harvest of homegrown thyme is dried and bottled. It smells wonderful! I grew lemon thyme this year and skipped the regular variety. From now on, until the bottle is used up, each meal I prepare will probably get at least a sprinkling of this fragrant and delicious stuff! Today's lunch, a super simple salad, was the first taste test. The bell pepper I sliced and added to the salad was also from the garden, and so good! I am as much a pepper fanatic as I am an herb fanatic, so along with the thyme and bell peppers, a couple of good splashes of hot sauce had to be added to the drizzle of bleu cheese dressing. Oh, and I also like to add a dash of apple cider vinegar. Don't laugh, I know there are others out there who mix dressings!

Mmmm, lemon thyme... I love that smell...
All of our lemon thyme has disappeared this year. The local nurseryman said he had the same problem -- decades old plants suddenly dying off. I've replaced two of them and hopefully they'll make it a few more decades of their own.
I make a tea for colds and sore throats with it, just steeped in hot water for a few minutes and sweetened with honey. My husband swears by it and whatever stops him from whining when he's sick is worth the trouble drying it!
That thyme looks yummy! I've only used my herbs fresh but I have been thinking about drying some this year.
